| Life Cycle of a Butterfly |
I would display the butterfly lesson on the white board. The boys and girls would come up one by one to gently swat the group that is correct, and then I would allow them to come up and use the dry erase markers to draw the life cycle. You could also make copies of the sheet, and allow the children the chance to use crayons to draw the life cycle. |

| Classroom Activites Graph |
For the Daily Activities Pie Chart, I initially sent home a homework sheet to be completed by each family. Students were asked to "average" how many hours they spent daily on the following....school, homework, T.V., sports, sleep, eating. I entered the data and turned it into a pie chart. |

Favorite Candy Graph problem with this file will fix |
The Favorite Candy graph was done originally on the whiteboard. Students used post-it notes to vote for her/his favorite candy. The result was a bar graph. I just entered the data on Excel. My class thought it was pretty cool. |

| Tasting of the greens paper |
Tasting of the Greens Chart This chart was created to be used during the month of March on or before St. Patrick’s Day. Each student is assigned a green food to bring in. Each child is given a chart paper. As each food is tasted the child puts a tally mark in the appropriate box indicating if the item was “good”, “okay” or “not so good”. After everyone has tasted everything and they have completed their survey the go to the computer lab (this would also work on a Smart Board, I don’t have one!) The teacher pulls up the chart and the students read off their tally marks. The teacher fills in the appropriate columns, at the bottom the children can see how the tally marks added up for each column. The children learn addition! |

| Weather Chart |
Weather Chart Student charts daily what the weather is, sunny, rainy, snowy or cloudy. Show the children how to highlight the area to include the month names and the weather conditions. Then show the children the “chart wizard” button, click and drag the chart to the proper position on the page. The children have now completed a weather chart. |

| Excel Assignment |
The first assignment, charting grammar to create
compound and complex sentences, has dual uses. Students compose a paragraph
and then review it to see how many times each part of speech has been used.
When this is done students can see areas where they may need to vary their
writing more to create sentence variety and make their writing more
interesting. |

| Excel Assignment |
The second assignment is used across the curriculum. Students write a response to a job ad to find a career. When it is established how much their salary will be, they are to complete a cost of living project to see how much their monthly expenses will total. After this information is established students write justifications for each expense and validate the reasoning behind each |
