Earth. Finally, imagine them all deeply and usefully categorized according to
subject, education level, and placed in the order in which topics are
typically taught.WatchKnow--as in, "You watch, you know"--is trying to do
this.

What is WEB 2.0?
Web 2.0
is a term that has been generating quite a bit of talk in the last few
years. It’s been used in so many ways that many people, when asked, cannot
give a clear definition of what it is exactly. It has been applied to
nearly everything "new" related to the web, which has led to
many misconceptions about what the term refers to. The first documented use
of the word dates back to 2004. The simplest definition can be traced back
to this origin: the web as a platform. That is rather vague, however, so we
will attempt to clarify this using some specific examples that we will have
in place above as we update this site.
In our
humble opinion, Web 2.0 represents a change in attitude towards how the internet is
used, and is not necessarily a change in technology. It is basically a "remixing"
of older technologies into new applications.
Teachers must learn the
basics of integrating technology in the classroom prior to using a Web 2.0
attitude. Although this is a new approach to learning and
teaching at the
same time it is necessary to use the fundamentals within your new pedagogy
scope of teaching. We will keep this page on the cutting edge. I
must say that since technology and the world must be viewed in
exponential terms all teachers must get on board quickly or be left
behind. The
revolution has just begun and it is already placing educators who are
teaching obsolete excellence using antiquated teaching methods far behind.
This applies to all subjects and all grades.
Our job in computer services is to assist you any way we can to bring you up
to the cutting edge. Today on this date "Jan
15 2009" I will go out on a limb and say it will not be an
easy task but, it should only take a few days consisting of sitting in your
classroom to show you how to change your pedagogy. I must say as a
disclaimer the turning of each month on the calendar will make this a
much harder job and take a lot longer to do.
So do
not procrastinate get on board and email me any and all teachers,
(dan.hoffman@weschools.org) so I may help you
get on the cutting edge. This will make teaching exciting for you and
learning alot more fun for your students. Time is of the essence!!!
Primary items needed in a Technology
Rich Classroom and School
1.
Computer connected to the Internet
2. LCD projector (allowing teachers to share with their students a
teachable moment! You will find that this will permit you to teach and
cover your lessons faster and let more students understand what you are
showing them.
3. A computer lab in the school permits teachers to become facilitators and students
may learn at the speed of thought!
At present we are presently working on
a revolutionary concept that will allow a teacher to become a facilitator in
a classroom of only one computer.
4. Since the Internet is both visual and audio, speakers are
necessary to allow students to obtain the full impact of what they are
learning.
